Industry Expansions to Take
Place in The Shoals
North American Lighting and
E S
Robbins Corporation are two industries in
The Shoals that have announced
upcoming expansions.
North American Lighting is
investing $10.2 million in
machinery. This new expansion
will create an estimated 96 jobs
at the Muscle Shoals facility
within the next three years.
North
American Lighting, Inc. is one
of the largest lighting
suppliers in North America. The
company has produced lighting
products for car manufacturers
since 1983. The Muscle Shoals
facility produces signal lamps
for car production.
E S Robbins
Corporation is investing $2.166
million in a
53,640-square-foot building
adjacent to its headquarters on
Avalon Avenue in Muscle Shoals,
Alabama.
The
project will create
an estimated 25 jobs
in The Shoals in the next
three years.
E S Robbins Corporation specializes in
innovative plastic products for
industry, office, equine
fencing, and food service.
Groundbreaking
Ceremony at E S Robbins
Corporation
Construction is underway for the
expansion of
E S
Robbins Corporation.
The ceremony took place October
13th at the company's
headquarters in Muscle Shoals. The new facility
will be used for warehousing and
distribution.

Wise Metals Group Announces New
Leadership
Wise Metals Group, in Muscle
Shoals, Alabama, has a new
executive vice president / chief
operating officer of all
divisions. He is We sley Oberholzer and he is moving to
The Shoals from Massena, NY. Mr.
Oberholzer has an outstanding
history in leadership in the
industry. He is credited with
enabling a $1 billion dollar
modernization investment thanks
to a renegotiated power contract,
significantly reducing lost workday injuries,
and widening operating margins
while
in his prior position at Massena
Primary Metals.
Joe Pampinto has been named
plant manager of the Wise Alloys
facility in Muscle
Shoals, Alabama. Mr.
Pampinto
has worked at Wise for over 15 years,
most recently as senior vice
president / general manager of
manufacturing operations. Under
his leadership, the Muscle
Shoals facility underwent
multi-million dollar
modernizations and increased
production and safety goals. Mr. Pampinto has also served the
community of Muscle Shoals as a
member of the city
council and
as past president of the Colbert County
Board of Education.
Phil Tays, of Florence,
Alabama, who had served as
executive vice president / plant
manager of Wise Alloys since
2006, has been named special
advisor to the chairman. He has
worked in the aluminum industry
for over 40 years, accumulating
extensive leadership experience.
David D’Addario, Chairman and
CEO of Wise Metals Group,
expressed his enthusiasm for
these
new changes and
stated that the aluminum
industry is "experiencing
tremendous growth."
Wise Metals Group, LLC, is the
world’s third-leading producer
of aluminum can stock for the
food and beverage industry.
Wise
Recycling is one of the largest
collectors of aluminum beverage
containers in the United States.
SEDA's New Officers Begin the
Year
The new executive
committee officers began their
service at the October Board of
Director's Meeting. The new
officers and executive committee
members for the 2010-2011 fiscal
year are as follows:

Dr. Parris presented Buster
Smith, outgoing chairman,

his service.

SEDA's Fifteenth Annual Industry
Classic Golf
Tournament
The Fifteenth Annual Industry
Classic Golf
Tournament was a huge success! The
weather and course conditions were ideal
as local industry and community
leaders gathered for a day of
fun and camaraderie at the
Robert
Trent Jones Golf Trail @ The
Shoals.
The tournament brought together
113 golfers from local industry,
sponsors, government, and
economic development to promote
support for industry in The
Shoals.

SEDA Rogersville Spec Building
Project Complete

The Rogersville Spec Building
project is
now complete thanks to the
work of the SEDA Board, SEDA
staff, and Carbine Construction.
The Spec Building Committee
spent a great deal of time and
effort to make sure the project
was a success. Spec Building
Committee members are SEDA Board
members Frank
Patterson, Warren Johnson, and
Harold W. Lewis.
The Committee
presented plaques to the
president and project manager at
Carbine Construction to express
appreciation for the great job
they did on
the project. On behalf of the Committee, Mr. Johnson thanked
Rusty Carbine, president, and Donald Collier,
project manager,
for their hard work.


New Burkes Outlet in Florence
A new Burkes Outlet store is
scheduled to open in Florence in
October and will employ 25-30
people. The new location is in
the Target shopping center.
Burkes Outlet provides
name-brand clothing at
affordable prices and has
received positive reviews from
shoppers.

Shoals Training Alliance Classes
The Shoals
Training Alliance has had a busy
2010 thus far with nearly 30
classes coordinated through the
Alliance to provide training for
personnel from local industries
and businesses.
In late September, a
four-hour Empowering Teams class
and a two-day Leadership Skills
I class were held at SEDA.
Christine Smart, AIDT, taught
both classes, providing in-depth
information to assist the
trainees to become skilled in
how to excel in team-based work
environments and to demonstrate
leadership skills to benefit
their employer, their co-workers
and themselves. The
trainees gave Ms. Smart high
marks in their reviews of the
classes.
