Great Southern Wood First in
Shoals to Receive Prestigious
Safety Award
Great
Southern Wood's Muscle Shoals
plant has become the first site
in the Shoals area and one of
only fifteen in the entire state
of Alabama to earn the
prestigious Safety and Health
Achievement Recognition Program
(SHARP) certification award from
UA SafeSite, a program
administered by the University
of Alabama on behalf of the
Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA).
SHARP is a voluntary protection
program created by OSHA for
small businesses and is
administered through UA
SafeState's onsite consultation
program. Less than one half of
one percent of all eligible
workplaces in the state
accomplish the SHARP milestone.
Great Southern's Abbeville, AL
plant achieved SHARP
certification in 2007. In
addition to Great Southern's two
Alabama plants, Conyers, GA and
Sumter County, FL plants are
SHARP certified by their
respective states.

Shoals Manufacturers'
Association Annual Event
This
year's annual event for the
Shoals Manufacturers'
Association was held aboard the
Pickwick Belle authentic paddle-wheel riverboat. The weather was
great, which provided the event
with the perfect backdrop for a
wonderful evening cruise along
the Tennessee River. Each year
the event enables members of
the Shoals Manufacturers'
Association to interact with
fellow members and other
individuals from the community
in order to meet new
acquaintances and strengthen
bonds among members.

North
American Lighting Expansion
Update

Construction is almost complete
on the North American Lighting
$35 million expansion of its
manufacturing facility located
in Muscle Shoals.
North American Lighting (NAL) is
a leading manufacturer of
automotive exterior lighting and supplies the world's most
advanced lighting products to
virtually every automobile
manufacturer in the United
States.
With the new expansion, NAL will have nearly
double the manufacturing
capacity and will be able to
address many of the obstacles
faced by the growing company.
The expansion will allow the
Muscle Shoals facility to be
equipped with state-of-the-art
technology and operations,
further enhancing NAL's
industry-leading position.
Operations will begin in early 2012, allowing millions
of
headlamps to be produced per
year by 2014. NAL is a
wholly owned subsidiary of Koito
Manufacturing Co., Ltd.,
headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
