American Excelsior Company® Announcement Extra

SEDA appreciated the outstanding local support for the American Excelsior Company® announcement held yesterday at the Fiberex Division facility in the Florence-Lauderdale Industrial Park.  Terry Sadowski, President/CEO of American Excelsior Company®, expressed his thanks for the strong local showing.  He said that there were other company facilities that were considered for this expansion, but the local community, especially Florence Mayor Bobby Irons and SEDA Assistant Director Susie Heird, made the decision to expand in Florence the obvious choice.
Several local leaders addressed the assembled group.  Mayor Bobby Irons expressed his continued support for the company. He emphasized the importance of existing industry to the local economy and said developing more manufacturing jobs will always be a top priority.  Angie Pickens, Florence City Council, expressed her appreciation to the company for its expansion and the additional jobs in District 6.  She also spoke well of SEDA's efforts to help our local industry expand and create new jobs.  Mike Curtis, Lauderdale County Commission, pledged the continued support of the county government to assist the growth of the company.
Gary Faulkner, Alabama Development Office, presented the Great Seal of Alabama to Terry Sadowski. Gary stressed the importance of existing industry to Alabama's job growth, and made special note of the fact that American Excelsior utilizes forestry products, which are a vital part of Alabama's economy.
Following the announcement, Bobby Swindle, General Manager of the Fiberex Division, gave a tour of their facility.
