North American Lighting, Inc. (NAL) Brightens Up The Shoals!

Daniel R. Robusto, President and Chief Operating Officer
of North American Lighting, Inc., explains the decisions involved in selecting Muscle Shoals

In a public announcement held at Muscle Shoals City Hall, North American Lighting, Inc. (NAL) made known its decision to invest $22 million in a new factory to be built in Muscle Shoals.  NAL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd., headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, is a leading manufacturer of automotive lighting products.  The factory in Muscle Shoals will begin production in 2007 and will make 1.8 million tail lamps per year by 2010 by utilizing state-of-the-art technology and operations.  NAL's three manufacturing facilities in southern Illinois currently produce 2 million head lamps and 3 million tail lamps per year.  Customers of NAL products include virtually every automobile manufacturer in the United States.
"We believe the southern automotive corridor is the best place for NAL to expand in concert with our growing customer base in that part of the country.  The Shoals area of Northwest Alabama and that facility site are ideally suited for NAL.  We are very thankful for the southern hospitality that has been extended to our organization and the invaluable assistance given to us during our location search by Governor Bob Riley, Congressman Bud Cramer and local community leaders who have demonstrated their commitment to assisting new industries and providing a workforce and infrastructure capable of supporting a world-class manufacturing facility with more than 400 employees.  We look forward to many years of involvement with the Muscle Shoals community."  Daniel R. Robusto, President and Chief Operating Officer of NAL
